There's a group of young rippers coming out of Laguna Beach lately who have been taking their game to Lowers and turning heads. One such grom is Trey Lockhart, son of seasoned OC competitor, Bobby Lockhart. Along with his brother, the Rodgers brothers and Boothy's kid, Travis, there's a whole new generation of LB rippers ready to put Laguna Beach back on the map! We recently caught up with Trey to see what's going on and here's what he had to say….

Name Trey Lockhart
Age 13
Years surfing 6
Hometown Laguna Beach, CA
Sponsors Vissla, Stamps Surfboards, DVS, Laguna Surf and Sport

Ghetto Juice: How did you get into surfing?
Trey Lockhart: I caught my first wave in Seal Beach at the river/crabs. Same spot my dad started. Then started surfing a lot more at Blackies, Doheny and San O.

GJ: Your dad was a seasoned competitor. What advice has he given you about surfing?
TL: Mainly to relax have fun and try and put yourself in the right area but mainly to have fun surfing. The traveling and the competition part is an added bonus.

GJ: What's it like growing up in Laguna Beach?
TL: It's pretty sick. It's a super small town so we know everyone who surfs. It get's really crowded in the summer but I love the winter time because it's fun and uncrowded.

GJ: Favorite spot?
TL: Lowers in the summer and Thalia Street in the winter.

GJ: Got any surf trips coming up?
TL: We'll be heading down to Gaviotas in Baja a few times this winter and then possibly Mainland Mex next spring.

GJ: Tell us something about yourself a lot of people might not know….
TL: (Laughs) Well, I played a young Tom Sims in the Mazda commercial that has aired over the last year. Sims was a legend!

GJ: What's one of your favorite places to eat?
TL: Heidelberg in Laguna—- the best breakfast ever!

GJ: You went off this past summer! Surf us through one of your summer days….
TL: Wake up early, surf Lowers with all my friends, hit up Pedros Tacos and then wrap it up in Laguna with a sunset surf.

GJ: What pro surfer provides the most inspiration for you?
TL: I really like the way Jordy Smith surfs because he does huge turns and sick carves and I always seem him out at Lowers.

GJ: Any parting words?
TL: Chicken Joe, YAW, R.T.D.A …. Follow me @_TreyLockhart_.
