Yeomans Wins $50K O'Neill Cold Water Classic

You know it's a great day in pro surfing when a beloved pro like Nate Yeomans, who hasn't had a main sponsor in nearly four years, wins a $50,000 contract with O'Neill in the 2014 O'Neill Cold Water Classic Invitational. The surf was a little on the small side, and none of Nate's heats were easy, but he went to the West Side, took names and kicked arse. Nate defeated local boy Shaun Burns in the 35 minute grand final, and had a full two days of surfing against 15 other unsponsored surfers hoping to win that big contract. But it wasn't easy for the surfer known as Big Deluxe. After a first round loss to Australia's Garrett Parkes, Nate was sent to the do or die Round 2. But that only gave him more motivation, as he easily defeated American Leif Engstrom. And off he went to the three man Round 3, with the top two advancing to the quarters. Nate beat Chris Waring, and taught young Garrett Parkes a lesson, basically that payback is a beeyotch. Nate then faced HB's Derek Peters in the quarterfinals and took him out no worries. All a sudden Nate was in the semifinals with the only surfer standing in between himself and the finals was, once again, that wascally Australian, Garrett Parkes. Nate beat 'em clean in the semis only to face the only local in the event, Shaun Burns, in the Grand Final, and you know how that went!! Congrats to Nate, we couldn't be more stoked for him!
