Dateline, Dreamland OC. Lowers. So Taj Burrow beat Julian Wilson in the grand final of the ASP/WCT 2013 Hurley Pro at Lowers today. (Yeah, he surfed pretty sick!!). And rather than impressing you with some big long editorial piece about how epic the event was, remember this: it's Lowers, and if you surf you already know what happens when the world's best converge there. (Yeah, it's a pretty sick wave!!) So if ya wanna know heat times, heat scores, photos, videos on demand and all that jazz, check out TheHurleyPro.Com. (Yeah, it's a pretty sick website!)

OK. Onto the big news…
What the Hurley Pro was really about this time around is the World Rankings and all the shuffling going on up there. We've got an amazing world title race this year, and it's more than likely going to come down to Pipe. While everyone ripped in this event, there was a lot of disorder at the top of the world rankings. Slater came into the event with the #1 on his jersey. Sounds about right. But it's wrong. He's your current World #2 and has swapped places with the new World #1 Mick "White Lightning" Fanning. Then there's Jordy, who moved up a spot to World #3, and the saddest tale of 'em all, Joel Parkinson, who dropped two whole slots and is creedling around the World #5 mark. Basically the top dogs (Kelly and Parko) got all jacked up this event! Meanwhile, the surfer of the week, Taj Burrow climbed an entire spot to World #4 and has all the momentum heading over to Europe. And if what you just read doesn't make your head spin then the rest of this year on the ASP Tour surely will.—-Skip Snead

Current ASP/WCT World Tour Rankings after the Hurley Pro at Lowers
