Vicki Patterson (aka V. Patterson) is the wife of world famous surfboard shaper Timmy Patterson, the mother of his children and the boss of the family business, T. Patterson Surfboards, one of the most respected brands in the surfing world. Ghetto Juice caught up with Vicki at their family-run T. Patterson Surf Shop on El Camino Real in San Clemente and here's how the quick convo went down …

Ghetto Juice: First off, how did you meet the legend T. Patterson?
Vicki Patterson: I met Timmy through mutual friends. We all used to hang out together, and then Timmy and I just started hanging out without them!

Was he already shaping boards at that time?
Oh yes! He was shaping next to Chris McElroy.

What's been the coolest part about being a Shaper's Wife?
Well, speaking of when we were dating, I used to be able to get into places without paying. I'd say things like, "My boyfriend makes your boards, my girlfriends and I are coming in!" That's the funny part, but usually it's the traveling and meeting people from all over the world.

What can you tell us about Timmy Patterson that we might not know?
His oldschool name was "Pineapple". Or most people don't know that he is blind in one eye; so if you ever look at his pictures when he's outside he is always squinting. But it amazes people to know he only uses one eye to shape!

What's the best advice you ever gave him about shaping?
Don't ever discount yourself. You have a gift that has real value. Always know that.

We know you rip at SUP, but do you surf as well?
No, not as good as I'd like. I wish I could surf half as good as some of the guys Timmy shapes for.

Speaking of your SUP'ing, you started a little apparel company called SUP 'R Girl… tell us about that?
Well, It started with the paddling. I probably paddle five days a week or more. I LOVE IT! Completely changed my life. So I was thinking about how everytime I want to take my friends paddling the first thing they ask is, "What do I wear?" So me being in retail for 14 years thought I should come out with a line for girls that we can wear and feel strong and feminine in.

There you go! So any final words of wisdom for any other Shaper Wives who might be reading this?
Always have a good time and find yourself. And you'll never get that foam dust out; no matter how many times you wash it! Get use to gritty kisses! :-)
