Jordy Smith Scores Cover of New G+J 32

One of the best things about making a surf mag is picking the cover photo. Only eight surfers a year will get the opportunity, and whenever we pick a cover we don't just slap any photo on the cover. We actually think about it. We think about who is deserving. Who has made a recent mark in the world of surfing. Whose photo is worthy of gracing the front page. It's a combination of having the best photo of the most worthy surfer at the particular time. This month Jordy Smith scored the cover. Not because he's a great surfer, but because he won the Hurley Pro and, for the time being, is King of Lowers. Yeah, we could've slipped John John on there, but he didn't win. Another reason Jordy's on the cover is because he's an OC local now. He recently bought a house in San Clemente and now calls Lowers his home break. On top of all that, this photo by Nick Green, with the boogie boarder in the foreground, is just plain epic. And we think you'll agree.

Stay on the lookout for the new issue OUT NOW in core surf shops all over the OC. Thanks for your support!
