Meet the World's First Hurley T-Shirt

Hurley is such a big player in the surf world nowdays that it's hard to believe Bob's dream of Hurley Clothing started with a single tee … this green one. Yep it's the first ever Hurley clothing shirt and we've got it hanging on our wall of surfing apparel fame.

Seeing this shirt brings back a lot of good memories for us at Hurley. This was around 1997 and we had just announced that we were no longer going to renew our license agreement with Billabong USA. It was a time of change for all of us and we were confident and excited to start fresh with a new brand. Bob Hurley had complete support from all of his employees and customers and it was a changing of the guard for us. I was very thankful to be a part of this revolution where the future was replacing the past. My boss/mentor Lian Murray had a big part of the creative movement. Her forward thinking and outside of the box design direction proved to be a game changer during this time . Hurley was able to perform at retail and build a new brand in the surf industry. We had a solid Mens design crew back then with myself, Ziggy Williams, Jeffrey James Gonzales, and Brian Magar. We worked together as a team and had a blast! I will never forget those days!!
