We first met 25 year old Anastasia Ashley when she was out here competing for the NSSA Nationals as part of the Hawaiian crew. She was just 9 or 10 years old and determined to make it in the big wild world of surfing… All these years later she's done that and more. We caught up with the Hawaiian girl who now calls San Clemente home …

#1: How did you get into surfing?
Anastasia Ashley: I got into surfing because I was always lucky enough to always live close to the beach. I started boogie boarding and very fast transitioned into surfing. All my guy friends surfed when I was younger, so I wanted to get out there with them.

#2: You have a competitive background, what are some highlights of your career?
AA: I've been the Triple Crown of Surfing Rookie of the Year, and I've made many WQS finals and I won the Pipeline Women’s Pro in 2010.**

#3: How did you get into modeling?
AA: I've just always had opportunities to do modeling for my sponsors or for press and media. I've never actually been on an audition or anything. I don't try to model, its just kind of come out.

#4: Why did you move from Hawaii to Orange County?
AA: I moved from Hawaii when I was 13. I didn't really have a reason to move. It was fun though to grow up in two different places that are great, San Clemente and Hawaii.

#5: When you paddle out for a surf, is it easy to get waves because you're so good looking?
AA: Not at all… I get asked this question a lot, but I get pretty hassled out in the water sometimes. I go surf to catch waves and don't let dudes paddle around me if it's my turn.

#6: What advice do you have for young girls who want to surf and model?
AA: Don't be intimidated by being out in male-dominated line up, and go for your dreams!

#7: What are your dreams for the future?
AA: Catch some solid waves!

#8: Got any pet peeves?
AA: Probably fake people.

#9: Do you have any advice to any Orange County dudes who want to go out with a surfer/model but don't know how to go about it?
AA: Don't be cheesy! Just be yourself … and be funny.
