Brazilian super freak Filipe Toledo just won the O'Neill SP Prime in Brazil. Sure, a lot of the world's best surfers crank out filthy airs but this guy arguably busts the sickest airs we've ever seen, period. He did it in Brazil this week during the Prime, and he did it a few months ago when he won the Hurley Innovation award during the ASP/WCT Hurley Pro at Lowers. He's had an amazing year as well, winning the Vans US Open of surfing and killing it on both the ASP World Qualification series and the ASP World Championship Tour where he's ranked 4th and 16th respectively.
But how does he do it? Where did he learn to surf this way? How old was he when he first started doing airs? What kind of wax does he use? We questioned Filipe about some of this stuff and here's what he had to say….

Ghetto Juice: Who inspired you to do aerials when you were younger?
Filipe Toledo: Actually when I was a kid, my older brother used to surf professional, competing in Brazil, and he was just trying some airs, and I was a kid, thinking, if he can do it, maybe I can do it.
How old were you?
Well he was only 15 at the time and I was 10.
How did you take it to the next level?
I was watching a lot of movies, with Jordy and Dane Reynolds and Matt Meola, guys like that.
So what kind of wax do you use?
I use the Fu Wax, and I have my whole life. My dad used it when I was younger and I'm still using it. I think it's the best wax in the world.
